چکیده

Abstract. The patterned microtopography of subarctic mires generates a variety environmental conditions, and carbon dioxide (CO2) methane (CH4) dynamics vary spatially among different plant community types (PCTs). We studied the CO2 CH4 exchange between fen atmosphere at Kaamanen in northern Finland based on flux chamber eddy covariance measurements 2017–2018. observed strong spatial variation four main PCTs studied, which were largely controlled by water table level differences vegetation composition. ecosystem respiration (ER) gross primary productivity (GPP) increased gradually from wettest PCT to drier ones, both ER GPP larger for all during warmer growing season 2018. estimated that 2017 balances ranged ?20 g C m?2 (Trichophorum tussock PCT) 64 (string margin PCT), while 2018 small sources (10–22 m?2). emissions (< 1 m?2) driest PCT, other three had significantly (mean 7.9, range 5.6–10.1 two seasons. Competing formate- and carbon dioxide-utilizing prokaryotes in an anoxic methane-emitting fen soil.

Methanogenesis in wetlands is dependent on intermediary substrates derived from the degradation of biopolymers. Formate is one such substrate and is stimulatory to methanogenesis and acetogenesis in anoxic microcosms of soil from the fen Schlöppnerbrunnen. Formate dissimilation also yields CO(2) as a potential secondary substrate. The objective of this study was to resolve potential differences...

Short-term carbon dioxide exchange and environmental factors in a boreal fen

Northern peatlands are important contributors to the global carbon cycle. In cold and moist climatic conditions, boreal peatlands have sequestered large amounts of atmospheric carbon during the past few thousand years (GORHAM 1991). The carbon balance in mires depends on the rates of photosynthesis and respiration which are affected by both the long-term and the short-term variations in environ...

Methane and carbon dioxide emission from two pig finishing barns.

Agricultural activities are an important source of greenhouse gases. However, comprehensive, long-term, and high-quality measurement data of these gases are lacking. This article presents a field study of CH(4) and CO(2) emission from two 1100-head mechanically ventilated pig (Sus scrofa) finishing barns (B1 and B2) with shallow manure flushing systems and propane space heaters from August 2002...

Differential expression of Lead accumulation during two growing seasons by desert shrub Acacia victoriae L.

In desert reclamation strainer plants can be used for improvement and decrease pollution of soil and water. This technology can be used to remove both inorganic and organic contaminants in soil. In this study, one year old Acacia victoriae seedlings were exposed to Pb (NO3)2 in 5 different concentrations; 0, 50, 250, 500 and 1000 mg Pb L-1 for 45 days in two growing seasons. Subsequently, the h...

Net ecosystem exchange of carbon dioxide in a temperate poor fen: a comparison of automated and manual chamber techniques

We used five analytical approaches to compare net ecosystem exchange (NEE) of carbon dioxide (CO2) from automated and manual static chambers in a peatland, and found the methods comparable. Once per week we sampled manually from 10 collars with a closed chamber system using a LiCor 6200 portable photosynthesis system, and simulated four photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) levels using shr...
